Recognize Women Making History--Then and Now

Join us for a festive evening to observe Women’s History Month. This fundraiser for Ridgefield Democrats will recognize Ridgefield women, past and present, whose actions and advocacy make an impact on the community, equity, and society.  The evening is inspired by Alice Paul, a 40-year resident of Ridgefield, noted suffragist, women’s rights activist and one of the leaders of the campaign for the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits discrimination in the right to vote on account of sex. Register or donate below.

Anne Richardson (1884-1965), an early suffragist and philanthropist, gave Richardson Park to the Town of Ridgefield, was one of the founders of Ridgefield’s League of Women Voters, President of the Ridgefield Garden Club, and served on both the Board of Education and what eventually became the Planning and Zoning Commission. As a philanthropist, she establised the Anne S. Richardson Fund, which regularly donates to eight local organizations and to others throughout Fairfield County that assist lower-income people, promote the independence of women, support the lesbian and gay community, foster youth development, or enhance communities’ natural beautification.
