The World Weeps

We grieve for the people of Paris, the victims, their families and friends, and all who have been touched by terror. Though their losses can never be recovered, we hope the survivors will find comfort and eventually rediscover hope.

At times of great loss, sorrow and fear, we may desire to respond in kind to acts of indiscriminate hatred and violence. However, our most profound texts, both secular and sacred, caution against such paths, perhaps none more succinctly than Psalm 34:14: “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”
